Soon you can read a short biography on each candidate:

Dr Stephen Michael Lawson MA(Ed) Phd
To Members of the Kennel Club of Jersey
I have been involved in breeding, training and showing various breeds of dogs for many years,
although mainly whippets since the 1980s. I have been a member of Jersey Dog Club and Kennel Club of Jersey since the 1970s, and showed at the old Springfield Stadium. At various times I have
been registrar, chairman and president of the Pedigree Whippet Club, and have judged matches for KCJ in St Peter. I am a member of the Executive Committee of KCJ, and I have held senior positions on boards of directors and committees related to dogs, horses and charities.

Helen Lester
I wish to be considered for Vice–Chairman and President. I have worked tirelessly and successfully as
Social Secretary for 4 years where I have enjoyed hosting and entertaining guests. I have been a great Ambassador for the KCJ and now feel confident and ready to progress.
I’ve raised substantial funds for our Club through sponsorship and will continue to do so.
I can make decisions, think on my feet, work for the good of our Club and will help shape the Committee to function as a strong team by assisting new committee members to progress and achieve
their goals.

Christine Marett
I consider myself a team player and enjoy the organising and running of the club and shows. I was one of Jersey’s first home grown qualified veterinary nurse’s so dogs have always been a big part of my life. As well as being Vice Chairman I prepare the rosettes for the shows and run the raffles. I am
also the Registered and Listed Clubs representative and as I have completed in both obedience and agility I feel that I am qualified to improve links between these clubs and the Kennel Club of Jersey.

Stuart Mottershaw
I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales
( FCA ), having qualified in 1967. I have worked in Sheffield, South Africa and latterly in Jersey where I was a partner in Ernest & Young for 20 years responsible for Trust business.
I have previously been Hon. Treasurer of the KCJ from 1990 to 2008 and currently since 2016 to date.
My wife, Pamela and I have owned Afghan Hounds, Whippets, Greyhounds, Salukis.
Regarding other interests, I have been President of the Jersey Gardening Club and am currently Chairman of the St. Saviour Rates Assessment

Margaret Bayes, MBE
I have been showing and breeding Boxers over the past 26 years and been on the KCJ committee for many of these years.
I have been the Registrar for 10 years acting registrar and chairman last year, and honoured to be President for the last 5 years
I have organised the Eye clinic, show training and Matches.
I occasionally judge at UK open and Breed shows and am on the B list for Boxers and am a member of The Kennel Club.
I am willing to carry on as chairman and will train the next registrar.
Dr Margaret Bayes MBE

Penny Chapman
I have enjoyed being the club’s Honorary Secretary for the past 10 months and feel I have learnt a lot in a very short space of time. I have owned dogs all my life with my very first dog being a Keeschond but more recently an Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky. I joined the Kennel Club 3 years ago
when we bought our British Bulldog, Kobe who my partner enjoys showing.
I would like to re-stand for election to continue the work I have started and support the club to expand further.

Robyn Boschat
I’ve been very fond of dogs for many years now and I have been lucky enough to be part of the dog
world, I enjoy showing with my dogs. Over the past year I have on committee as the Trophy Steward,
and most recently I have stepped up to be the Show Secretary which I’m really enjoying. It’s not a small role but I get pleasure from doing. If I get elected, I look forward to continuing the role, I think I am approachable and happy to take on board any suggestions from the members.

Claire White
I have had a year away from committee, although I have continued to help wherever possible.
RawNMore have fully supported the KCJ and continued with our 2019
Championship Show sponsorship.
I have become very interested in learning about the role of Registrar, and Margaret has been kind enough to give me hands-on experience learning all about it.
I would like to thank her & the members who have generously let me help register their dogs, as this has been invaluable. If I am successfully voted on I look forward to learning much more.

Carol Smithers
Dear Fellow Members,
I have had the pleasure of having my beloved Poodles all my life, my parents had them before I was born.
I have been a canine beautician since 1971 working for Ann English and Thelma Alsford, when Thelma decided to semi retire I started my own grooming business in 1985 up to present day.
After serving as a committee member over the past year , I have decided to put my name forward once again , as it has become clear to me that running the Club takes a lot of organizing and needs as much help as possible!

Rachel Le Masurier
The dog world started for me 35 years ago, when I got my first Papillon and found my true love for dogs. Over the years I had a couple of litters I also had as pets and showed a TT, Poodles, Irish Setters and more recently Cocker Spaniels to name a few.
After taking a short break from the showing world I am now back enjoying showing again with Parsley. Since being back I have had great enjoyment in helping train the junior handlers. I myself know how important they are for the future of the club and need encouraging.
